For riders

What is behind your coach's reports.

If your coach sends you analysis built with Session View, this is what produced the numbers on it — and what did not.

The numbers come from a model, and the model is published

Your ride file is read at full resolution and put through a physiological model that estimates what the session cost you: the work you did, the energy that took, and the carbohydrate and fat behind it. That model is not a trade secret. Its constants and their sources are written down and available to read.

Every figure carries how sure it is

Some inputs are measured directly from your ride. Others — like how efficiently your body converts energy — are population figures, because measuring yours takes a laboratory. The report marks which is which and shows the range around each estimate, so a number never looks more certain than it is.

What the numbers mean for you is your coach's call

Session View produces measurements and estimates. It does not know your season, your last four weeks, how you slept, or what you are training for — and it does not decide what you should do next. That judgement is your coach's, and it is the part of their work no model replaces. If a figure in your report surprises you, ask them: the report is built so they can show you exactly where it came from.

The model, its constants and their sources are published in full: read the full methodology.
